Circumcision of the Heart Ministry
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Philippians 3:3

Jevon Leon Scott
Jevon Leon Scott at 35 years of age and a graduate of the Circumcision of Heart Theological Studies. Jevon was born October, 27, 1974 in Clearwater, Florida, Pinellas County. Jevon’s parents are Wayne Lee and Fannie Mae Scott. Jevon is the eldest of three children; a brother, Jonte who is three years younger than Jevon. Jevon’s parents were blessed with his sister Shareese in their forties; Shareese is twenty-three years younger than Jevon. Over a period of nine years Jevon fathered five children from 4 different women; Brian 7, JaQuesha 9, Jevona 10, Jevon Jr. 14, and Destinee 16. Jevon states “I became abusive in my relationships both mentally and physically”.

Jevon enjoyed going to Sunday school as a child; however, Jevon exhibited certain negative behaviors; he constantly lied and stole. Although he was punished by his father, these behaviors continued and between the tender ages of eight and nine Jevon experienced his first sexual encounter. Jevon’s destructive conduct was unrelenting; at the age of ten he habitually used profane language; he began to drink alcoholic beverages, smoke marijuana, and sell drugs. Jevon was a cunning child; he was able to keep these actions from his parents. Nonetheless, Jevon's actions had a profound effect on him as he matured and entered into adulthood.

In spite of his bad behavior, Jevon did well in high school sports. Jevon ran an impressive 4.36 in the forty in track. Track was not the only sport Jevon excelled in; he played a mean game of football. In 1993, his senior year of high school, Jevon fathered a daughter; Destinee Scott. In 1993 Jevon was also arrested for possession of crack cocaine and given a year on probation.

Jevon graduated and was offered scholarships  to attend college. Like many young men his age, Jevon dreamed of going pro, instead of going to college. On the contrary, Jevon was captivated with the glitter and glamour of the street life and to his detriment, he turned the scholarships down. Jevon’s dreams of running would take another course; as fate would have it Jevon would only get to test his speed, by running from the law.
Subsequent to his graduation, Jevon began living a double life. Jevon worked off and on while dipping and dabbing in the night life…if you could call it that. Jevon’s life began a downward spiral; between the ages of nineteen and twenty-nine, he would actually be arrested nineteen (19) times; Jevon was placed on probation five times and sentenced to jail twice.

In 1996, Jevon was sentenced to 30 months in State Prison also known as the Department of Corrections (DOC). In January 1998, Jevon had served 26 of the 30 month sentence; he was released to a work release program. Jevon began working as a dishwasher; eventually he was moved up to fry cook, earning $7.50 per hour. He was finally released on June 6th, 1998. Ultimately, Jevon quit his cook job and started working with his cousin remodeling pools; However, Jevon’s drinking habit led to him quitting this job. Jevon fell back into his old line of work; dealing drugs, he continued this from 1999 until 2004.

In 2004, Jevon was arrested for possession of with the intent to sale, this time in the federal court system. Jevon was charged and convicted and sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison. While waiting to be surrendered over to the federal marshals, in a county jail, Jevon met an older gentleman who introduced him to Christ. He was instructed by his new found friend to read the book of Proverbs every day; the older gentleman explained to him that “God’s word was life”.

As time progressed, Jevon found it harder and harder to put the bible down; he couldn’t understand what was happening, but he knew something had a hold on him. It was impossible for him to explain. Yet, he told me about a burning passion, and a hunger, that he had for more and more of God’s word. Overwhelmed with a strong desire to share God’s word, he began sharing it with the lady in his life. His lady responded with “you are talking about God too much”.

April of 2005, he was transferred to another county jail. It was actually two hours from his home. “It seemed like a terrible place to be and I didn’t want to be there” he said to me. At the county jail, there were volunteers who came in five days a week; Jevon attended those services faithfully. He began reading his bible even more; he fasted, and he eventually started a Correspondence Bible Study Course.

This place… a county jail, turned out to be the best place for him to be. Jevon accepted God as his Lord and Savior and God began to move in a miraculous way in his life. Jevon began to experience the Lord as never before; God’s goodness and God’s mercy! Things he used to do, he didn’t feel the same about anymore.

September of 2005, Jevon was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison and for the first time in his life… he had a genuine remorse for what he had done in his life. In spite of the 15 year sentence, he felt blessed. Jevon realized that his decisions affected everyone around him, his children as well as other family members. On the day of sentencing, Jevon’s mother, his son Jevon Jr., and his son’s mother Sharron were the only ones that came to court. Jevon shared with me the pain he felt as he watched and listened to them cry for him. Later that day his family, Sharron, Jevon Jr, and Jevona visited him and they all cried together. Completely broken, the tough man and the hardness of heart were no longer there.

On February 19, 2006, Jevon was baptized, (all in), a solider for Christ for life. Jevon has a vision now; a vision he didn’t have years ago. He now has a purpose in life; he plans to work in a ministry helping children. Jevon also wants to start a giving ministry and most importantly give his unconditional love and time to his family and friends.

Jevon’s hope is to start a wild fire of unquenchable love by the grace of God. He wants to be all that he can for the Lord. Jevon plans are to stay the course and finish the fight by the grace of God. Jevon’s prayer is that everyone reads about his experience, to know that, whatever their life story, whatever their situation, or circumstance in life…they can overcome through Christ Jesus. Nothing…I mean Nothing is too hard for God.

Amen
