For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Today I want to share with this body of believers what God has shared with me concerning his body and his blood. First I want to ask you a question. How can man live without food or drink (physically) for you spiritual folks. Is there a way that man can live without water? No…it nurtures and refreshes the body, it helps move your bowels and the process of urination and it helps you cleanse the body of its impurities; doesn’t it?

Now bread, food, or the seed that bread comes from, is for what? Does not the bible declare that bread strengthens you? Bread is taken into the body, digested, broken up, and sent to all parts of the body, so that you can continue to so on and so forth. Have any of you fasted before without food or drink? The body gets weak…right? If you go too long without food or drink you will end up dying…right? Well it’s the same in the spirit. If you do not eat and drink of the food that God has provided for you to live off of; you will die spiritually.

See, man cannot just eat bread alone; he needs the drink to wash it down. Because if all man did was eat and not drink, he would not be able to swallow or digest what he has eaten. So he will end up choking and spitting out the food. Now on the other hand, what if he was just drinking…being that food has all the nutrients that are needed for your body to function. Drinking alone cannot allow the body to function properly. So here we will see that in order for our pysi8cal bodies to function properly we need food and drink. It is the same in the spirit. We need both food and drink to function properly in the spirit.

Read John 6:48-69; Here Jesus says that whomever eats of my flesh (seed/bread)and drinks of my blood (water, life) shall have everlasting life and he will raise them up at the last day. We know that Jesus is the word, so we can conceive that when he’s talking about eating his flesh, he is talking about us partaking in the word of God on a daily basis.

Remember it is the water that makes thee seed grow. One plants, one waters, and God gives the increase. So Jesus says, “take eat and do this in remembrance of me.” Every time you pick up your bible to read, you are doing it because you remember what Christ did for you at Calvary. I know we do communion on every 1st Sunday, But, God wants to commune with you on an everyday basis; not just once a month.

Now we know the bread is talking about the word; I want you to take a moment and think about the blood and what this actually means. Can anybody tell me what the blood could really men? Well you know that the bible declares that “life is in the blood”. What God showed me is to live out what the word says is “drink indeed.”

See when you read your bible, you are eating God’s food and when you live the life of God you are drinking. You are washing and cleaning. The food is able to be washed down and activated by the life you live. You have to eat and drink; you can’t come up in church on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday and eat it all up.

The word works, but not if you aren’t living it. That’s why the word doesn’t work for some of you, because your life is not washing it down. It is not being digested. No, the life you live chokes on the word and spits it out and some of you don’t like to study the word. Yet, you call yourself trying to live it and you find yourself weak in faith, because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Now look at this; I Corinthians 11:24-25, 29…when God says do this in remembrance of me. This is what the Greek definition of this word says it means. The participant should remember Christ and the sacrifice of his death. The memory of the greatness of the sacrifice should cause the believer to abstain from sin. He also says this is the New Testament in my blood.

Now the word testament means this, according to the Greek dictionary, to set out in order to dispose in a certain order- a divine promise conditioned on obedience, a solemn disposition of appointment of man and God’s covenant’s with them. The blood means the life that Christ gave for the propitiation of man’s sin.

Paul said it is no longer I, but Christ that lives in me. Paul is actually saying I partake of his blood and body by studying the word and living the life of Christ that he has given me. See the bible declares that faith (which comes by eating of the bread) without works (which is the drinking of the blood) is dead. You have to eat and drink your faith… without works …faith is dead.

Remember, when they asked Jesus, how can we work the works of God? He said by believing in him whom He sent, or believing in the word of God. This is how you are able to do the work; but you have got to eat it and drink it. Be a partaker of the death (suffering) and the resurrection (life) of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Communion is not just a mere eating of a cracker and drinking some juice. It is your living testimony of what Christ did in dying for you and resurrecting…so that you can have a life. See eating and drinking shows people that your life is full of the word. Remember you are what you eat. Whatever you are a partaker of your life should show it and it will show it.

It is the blood (life) that ignites the word (bread or seed) and God causes it to grow. This is your faith; growing up through communion with God in Jesus Christ.

We will come and sup with you…Eat and live…Amen
